Our client approached us with a desire to revitalise their beloved Edwardian weatherboard home, aiming to infuse it with a more contemporary layout while enhancing functionality. Their vision encompassed updating the rear 80’s additions to create a seamless flow between spaces and accommodating their evolving needs.

Exploring various design iterations, we arrived at a refined plan that reimagined the existing layout to include a modern kitchen with expanded storage, a luxurious master suite with walk-in robe and ensuite, a family bathroom, powder room, an additional bedroom, and a separate office space.

With a keen eye for preserving the home's character, we opted to retain the kitchen's footprint while enhancing its layout with an island bench and dual pantry areas. Opening up the northern and eastern walls created a harmonious connection with the surrounding outdoor areas, inviting natural light and fresh air indoors.  The living room's sunny window seat serves as a tranquil alcove fostering a seamless connection with the alluring pool and back yard areas.

The transformation continued as we repurposed existing spaces at the front of the house, converting the lounge and formal dining rooms into a lavish master bedroom retreat complete with a spacious walk-in robe and ensuite complete with large window and plantation shutters from the original dining room. The existing oversized bathroom underwent a redesign to accommodate a generous family bathroom and separate powder room, while the laundry found a new home in the former second bathroom area.

Remarkably, these renovations were achieved within the existing footprint, eliminating the need for additional built extensions. Upstairs, the rumpus area was transformed into a versatile space, adaptable as a second office, spare bedroom, or additional living area. In selecting the interior palette, our client embraced the timeless charm of the Edwardian era while infusing a contemporary flair, creating a harmonious blend of old and new throughout the home.
